In December 2010 I started a journey using recommendations from nutritionist Karen Hurd. This is the record of my experiences.

Success
209.0 - I really tried to lay off the nuts but I had to have one handful last night. None the day before though. I haven't been under 210 in over a year.

Steady as she goes...
210.8 - Wow, no change in 3 days; something's gotta give soon. I still have a bit of gas and bloating so I'm not sure if giving up the nuts helped or not; maybe two days in a row and I'll know more. I'll check the BP later in the day.

After the In-laws
210.8 - When only one person is cooking for a small number of people, the chances of finding lots to eat is slim. When a few people are cooking for a large crowd it's easy to find lots of things to eat that are on the "yes" list. Over the last couple days my "meat" was a tasty ham but I think it might have had a lot of salt in it. Also, nuts has been my only "dessert" so I think I have to cut that out. Weight is holding and BP doesn't seem to be trending down anymore.

Christmas Day
210.8 - While there wasn't much to eat last night (only carrots and meatloaf), today there was a ton of stuff. I could fill my plate with only things on the "yes" list. Also, my blood pressure seems to be trending down. I'm off to the in-laws for a couple of days.

Christmas Eve
211.8 - I think I was a little upset with a stomach disturbance yesterday which could explain the "too" large weight loss. I also had a touch of dizziness. It's gone today. Blood pressure is still good. Are you ready for Christmas?

Day 6
211.0 - Yesterday I didn't snack on nuts several times. I think that had something to do with the bloating and gas I had, maybe not. We'll see. So, since I really stuck to it, I lost another lb and a half. My blood pressure is looking pretty good to judging from the office visit yesterday and my "home" check this morning.

Today
212.4 - Seem to be loosing a little bit each day and not really hungry. That still surprises me. I wonder what would happen if I laid off the nuts for snacks and got a little exercise too?
Monday, December 20, 2010
Well, that's a start
213.4 - ok, lost a pound. One thing I'll say, "There's enough to eat." I may be missing my donuts, milk, potato chips, milk, and ice cream, but I'm certainly not hungry!

It Begins
Alright. There. The template has been created. I'm now a "Blogger". Maybe "blog" used to be an adjective for how I felt, but it's not. It's me; my story, online.
Two words, "Karen Hurd". Frankly, I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. (not really, actually I feel fine. But look at my waist line!) So, I visited her on Friday night, Dec. 17 and got my lists. "No", "Do", and "Acceptable". I'll start these Saturday morning.
Sat. 18 Dec 10 - 214.4 - What will the day bring? Will I be hungry? Will I miss sugar? We'll see.
Sun. 19 Dec 10 - 214.8 - Great. I've gained half a pound! LOL. I know there are normal fluctuations. no biggie. We'll see where this goes.
